The Board selected the name for our new school, along with its Mascot and colors. The school will be called Winfree Bryant Middle School after Mr. Cordell Winfree (former Director of Schools, principal, and teacher of LSSD) and Ms. Hattie Bryant (former teacher and first African American teacher in LSSD). The mascot is the Aviators (in honor of the airport and Air National Guard) and the colors are Columbia Blue, Silver, and White. This will keep the colors in the blue family so that "Go Big Blue" is the cry of the Aviators as it will be when they become Blue Devils at LHS. The emblem was submitted by WJB and it is a symbol of the Air Force with some modifications. |
